Review - Cowoy Heat (Hell Yeah! #1) by Sable Hunter

Cowboy Heat (Hell Yeah!) - Sable Hunter Cowboy 6 Pack - Randi Alexander, Sable Hunter, Myla Jackson, Donna Michaels, Melissa Schroeder, Paige Tyler

An Erotic Romance

Aron McCoy has sworn off women - except for sex. When Libby Fontaine arrives at Aron's Tebow Ranch, she is determined to cram a lifetime of living into a few short months. The doctor has told her that she can't count on her remission from leukemia being a permanent one. Their attraction to one another is instantaneous and overwhelming. But when Aron finds out that Libby is innocent - he backs off. He has nothing to offer a girl who deserves white lace and promises. Then Aron catches Libby pleasuring herself in his stock tank and hears her cry out his name - and the heat is on.

*Note: I read this book as part of the Cowboy 6 Pack Anthology. Click here for the link to my review of the anthology.

This was a quick and fun read. There was lots of heat and steam, and I loved the family dynamic that the McCoy brothers shared. My only complaint would be that the dialogue was a bit over the top for me at times – too many nicknames and silly talk for my liking, but the heat and steam had me turning the pages and enjoying the story.

Libby’s been crushing on Aron for years – he was older than her in high school so he really didn’t take notice of her. When she steps in to act as the cook & housekeeper for the McCoy brothers as a favor to a family friend, she sees this as her chance to really live and do all the things she hasn’t been able to since she has spent so much time in the hospital. She also knows she is running on borrowed time since her leukemia has gone into remission and her tomorrows are not guaranteed. I loved Libby’s attitude – although she has had a rough time with her sickness and could be bitter about everything, she chooses to grab onto the gift that the remission has given her and make all she can out of whatever time she has. She is also adamant that she doesn’t want to be treated any differently because of her illness, so she decides to keep that information to herself.

Aron’s divorce may have been finalized four years ago, but he still wears those battle scars prominently on his heart, refusing to get involved with anyone, not wanting to risk his heart or his family again. But when he sees Libby – BOOM – Aron is instantly overwhelmed by his awareness of her and immediately stakes his claim.

“Watching his brother surround the tempting little morsel, Aron opted to utilize a tactic which had come in handy when the McCoy’s would be out carousing pre-Sabrina. They had tried to avoid stepping on one another’s toes, romantically speaking. Whenever one would see a little filly who caught his eye, he would look at her and simply say one word that would alert the others that she had been claimed and was strictly off-limits to the rest of the McCoys. Stepping closer to the table, he loudly proclaimed, “Tag!”

As things heat up between Libby and Aron, Libby is more than ready to offer Aron a no-strings fling – especially since she knows that her forever may not be long at all. And once they finally get down to it…hot, hot, hot! Libby’s innocence and her desire to experience everything…well, let’s just say she is not shy and she is more than a willing participant!

“Aron wasn’t used to reciprocal attention. The sex he had participated in had mostly been one-sided, vaguely satisfying, but nothing to write home about. This…this was a whole different ball game. Libby wasn’t just participating; she was recruiting, coaching and leading the cheers.”

Even in spite of the silly talk and nicknames that I found a bit over the top at times, these two had me chuckling at times with their banter, blushing at times with Libby’s forwardness, and fanning myself at times over Aron. Libby always surprised me with the things that would come out of her mouth…

“Aron?” It was time to pull out the big guns. “Aron, can I kiss your winkie?”
A man could swell from an insult, he was proving it. “ELIZABETH, I DO NOT HAVE A WINKIE!”
Libby giggled so hard she snorted. Before she could catch her breath, he was laughing along with her. “Okay, okay. Let me try again. Aron McCoy, sir. May I kiss your Gargantuan Purple Helmeted Warrior?”
“That’s more like it, and yes you may.” He grinned at her mischievous smile.

Of course this is also a love story, and when feelings come into play, secrets are kept, and one angry ex-wife shows up, you know things are going to get interesting. Let’s just say spending time in jail wasn’t on Libby’s initial list of things to experience, but then again, getting into a bar fight wasn’t on that list either!

Looking forward to reading the rest of this series!
