To have and to howl…
Logan Black, former Marine and bodyguard for the Seattle Wolf Pack, hates weddings and has no plan to walk the path to matrimonial misery. But when he’s hired to protect a hot-to-trot wedding planner with a werewolf stalker, he’s forced to put his feelings aside. Not such an easy task when the damsel can turn him on with a single smoldering glance.
Wedding planner Veronica Vale knows werewolves exist, but hates them. One bit her sister, changing their lives forever. When a sexy Marine shows his gorgeous face at one of her wedding appointments, Veronica finds it hard to focus on the task at hand.
The chemistry drawing Logan and Veronica together seems fated, but with Logan’s playboy attitude, Veronica’s hatred for werewolves, and a stalker lurking in the shadows, these two need more than passion to keep them together.
“If I ever fall in love with a werewolf,” Veronica said…“shoot me.”
Wedding planner Veronica Vale hates werewolves. Her sister was bitten by one and it has changed their relationship, and now she hates all werewolves and blames them for what happened to her sister.
“I’m saying that a werewolf took Leah from me. He took away the only family I had left and ripped my heart out.”
Hired to protect Veronica from a stalker, former Marine Logan Black finds himself fighting his attraction to Veronica. Even though sparks fly between them, there is a major deal-breaker for Veronica - Logan is a werewolf…
“He’d certainly be the most gorgeous werewolf she’d ever seen. He’d still be filthy, mangy, and unnatural, but he’d be a hottie to boot.”
…and Logan, who is fighting demons from his past, just doesn’t believe in marriage and happy ever afters.
“Looks aside, Veronica was his polar opposite. It was clear she longed for a serious, stable relationship, and that’s the last thing Logan wanted. She was a night owl, and he rose with the sun. She always noticed the good in people and he…well, years of bad experiences had taught him better.”
Logan and Veronica try to fight the sparks that are flying between them. and as Veronica learns more about werewolves she starts to see that they are not all alike.
“How had it happened? How had she come to depend on a wolf to feel safe? The concept was ludicrous. Backward. Why, then, did it feel so right?”
Logan has sworn to protect Veronica and will do whatever it takes to see that she is safe.
“Veronica might not have said she wanted to be his for all time, but damn it, he yearned to protect her with everything he had.”
Things heat up between Logan and Veronica, but will they find their happy ever after, or will Veronica’s stalker come between them?
This was such a great read and it had me laughing out loud and turning the pages to find out what was going to happen next. I loved the humor in the book – let’s just say pussy willow and cockscomb – and thought the book had the right balance of romance, humor and suspense which made it a quick and engaging read. Even though this is book #2 in the Seattle Wolf Pack series, I don’t think I missed anything by not having read the first book in the series. I would highly recommend this book to anyone!
I received an eARC from the publisher in exchange for an honest review.
I just have to add two of my favorite quotes from this book – I was literally laughing out loud as I read the passages these came from. These passages alone make this a 5 star read!
“I mean, if you were my bride, for example – not that I’d ever let that happen – and you made your bouquet out of pussy willow, I’d make my boutonniere out of” – he turned a page in the binder and laughed – “cockscomb.”
“Logan sucked in a clipped breath, then lowered his mouth over hers. “If you say the word thigh again, you may break me.”…”Smiling, she whispered, “Pussy willow.”
