As I pace around the mediation room, I'm totally aware of the irony that the room that is used to soothe feels like a cage to me.

"We sedated her," Amanda answers tentatively. "And kinda sorta tied her to the bed."

Laughter kinda sorta bursts out of me at that visual. "Well, at least we don't have to worry about her getting away and telling the Priestess that I'm a vampire," I say. "Let's sit." I gesture to the pillows that litter the floor, and try to find the words to explain to them what my dilemma is.

"The feelings are too strong for you, aren't they?" Emily asks, surprising me by her perception.

"Yes."

"Wait, what does that mean?" Jenna asks, leaning back on her hands and crossing her ankles in front of her.

"It means that if I try to compel Tania, I may kill her," I answer factually.

"Oh my God, seriously?" Amanda leans closer to me, taking my hand in hers. "How? I mean, would you be telling her to kill herself?"

"No! You know me better than that, Amanda."

"If I may?" Eric addresses the room, and continues when I nod. "When you compel someone, you're using the power of your mind to control theirs, correct?"

"Mmhmm."

"With Ana's feelings towards Tania, she could override her brain, possibly, um . . . "

"Frying it?" Jenna suggests with a smirk.

"Essentially," I admit.

She’s a bit damaged from her past relationships and her family history, and when she finds out that she’s pregnant she is mortified and ashamed to admit it since the circumstances around the pregnancy will certainly cause some gossip and speculation, and frankly, the father is not someone who can be in the picture and she is fine with that…she’s just not fine with the entire town passing judgment on her…again!

Then there’s Theo – sweet, sweet, Theo. Wounded in the war and suffering from his own demons, he forms a bond with Meg – mainly based on the “why do you care what anyone thinks, I accept you the way you are and everyone else should do the same” platform. This bond leads them down a road to a relationship that’s full of obstacles and issues that they both must face – together and alone – and find out if their love is strong enough to see them through.

Theo was so perfect for Meg at a time when she needed someone to help her snap out of her denial and embrace her pregnancy. I loved how he brought that side out in Meg and really helped her embrace her impending motherhood. Unfortunately he is also struggling with his recovery from his war wounds and is prone to mood swings and can sometimes just act like a jerk. When he realizes just how much he wants to be in Claire and her unborn child’s life, he knows he needs to take steps to get better. Claire is also struggling with abandonment issues – her mother walked out when she was very young, her fiancé took a job overseas and left her – so Claire must fight her own demons and realize that she deserves to be loved and will be a good mother.

The supporting cast of characters was great and so diverse. From Claire’s family and friends to the employees at the bookstore, there were so many personalities and different things going on that it’s hard to believe the entire story was contained in one book.

All in all, I really enjoyed this one – it got me a bit emotional, gave me reason to laugh, and helped continue my belief that there truly is a happy ever after out there for everyone.

The sun was beginning to rise when I heard noises coming from the front door. Small knocks echoed in the cabin. Who could it be? I didn't have friends here. What she doesn't expect is for the pixies to come back before the agency can get to the bar, or the hot as hell werewolf who shows and starts teaching pixies how to fly. The hard way.

Sleeping for centuries has it’s drawbacks, Chase knew that going in. What she didn't expect was to wake with a Warlock’s spelled collar around her neck and to find her charge, the Queen’s daughter, in a cage. Vowing to free them both will take skill and strength and she doesn't need the distraction of a hot as hell male dragon trying to make his claim on her. Even though her heart aches to complete their joining, she can’t. Not yet.

Mina was born and raised in the East Farthing of Middle Earth (otherwise known as the Midlands, England) and spend her childhood learning all the sorts of things generally required of a professional adventurer. Able to ride, box, shoot, make and read maps, make chainmail and use a broadsword (with varying degrees of efficiency) she was disgusted to find that adventuring is not considered a suitable occupation these days.

So, instead of slaying dragons and hunting vampires and the like, Mina spends her days writing about hot shifters, government conspiracies and vampire lords with more than their fair share of RAWR. Turns out wanna-be adventurers have quite the turn of imagination after all...
(But she keeps that sword sharp, just in case the writing career is just a dream and she really *is* an adventurer.)

The boring part: A full time author and cover artist, Mina can usually be found hunched over a keyboard or graphics tablet, frantically trying to get the images and words in her head out and onto the screen before they drive her mad. She's addicted to coffee and would like to be addicted to chocolate, but unfortunately chocolate dislikes her.
